Greetings Sorors,

We are EXCITED about our Second International Sisterly Relations Day, which will be held on January 15, 2016.

In honor of our Founders’, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s International Sisterly Relations Day is a time for sorors to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood. On this day, Sorors we will "Nurture Our Ivy" by performing random acts of kindness toward one another. We will demonstrate that our love is boundless, by reaching across chapters and generations to treat Sorors with the care, kindness, and respect worthy of our illustrious sisterhood.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is not only the preeminent organization of college-educated women bound together by the desire to be of "Service to All Mankind," she is an organization of sisters who have taken an oath to “Promote Unity and Friendship” among its membership. Last year, during our First International Sisterly Relations Day, Sorors took over social media and enriched the lives of Sorors around the world with their acts of kindness and their extensions of sisterliness. This committee challenges every Soror to make the 2nd International Sisterly Relations Day bigger and better.

How can you do this?

• Wear pink and green to school, work or in your community
• Call a Soror with whom you've lost contact
• Visit a Soror who isn't able to get around
• Invite a Soror for a walk
• Sprinkle love on Sorors' Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or other social media pages using #AKA1908
• Send a note to a Soror who made your Alpha Kappa Alpha membership special
• Re-connect with co-initiates
• Conduct chapter sisterly relations activities (i.e. – game night, tea time, movie night, etc.) and encourage sorors to perform individual activities according to the suggestions in the Soror to Soror Guide

Please note that these are just suggestions and Sorors are encouraged to be very creative in how they exhibit love towards one another on this day.

Also, we would like all chapters to document and collect information from Sorors that outline how they shared acts of sisterliness with other sorors. They should submit their photos and articles evidencing these acts of sisterliness to their regional representatives to the International Sisterly Relations Committee.

Sisterly Relations is at the heart of our sisterhood. Join us as we Nurture our Ivy while embracing Launching New Dimensions of Service.
