On Saturday, August 2, 2014, Supreme Basileus Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s current and former leadership will honor the lives and legacies of our sisterhood’s Former Supreme Basilei in nationwide wreath-laying ceremonies themed: A Celebration of Remembrance, A Proud Past…A Promising Future.

The commemorative events, to be held at the gravesite of each deceased Former Supreme Basilei, will honor the lives and service these distinguished visionaries provided our sisterhood throughout the past 106 years and will recognize the historical significance of their legacy of leadership for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Sorority members worldwide, in honor of all Former Supreme Basilei will observe a moment of silence at 11:00 AM EST.

Following the day of the commemoration, a complete recap of the Celebration of Remembrance will be provided to members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Please note: The commemoration is open to all Sorors. Please follow the direction of your respective Regional Director pertaining to specific guidelines for participation in these special wreath-laying ceremonies. Participating Sorors are asked to wear white attire (non-ceremonial white is acceptable).
